Always our Brown Bumblebee.
We first saw Amie on the way over to a show in Tucson, back
in November 1991. Amie was barely 18 months old, a washout
in field trialing and was going back to her breeder, Carol
Chadwick. It was suggested to me that Ames be considered as
an addition to my breeding program. Little did I know that
this little Brown Bomber would turn into Singltrak's foundation
bitch.
Despite the predictions that I would never get her to keep
all four on the ground long enough to finish her Show Championship,
we persevered. Ames took her first points 6 weeks after arrviving
back in Las Cruces and finished with a 4 pt WB/BOW major at
the same shows where she became mine a year before. Never
mind that during that time, she was also like owning a dairy
goat. I have not owned a GSP since who would eat banana peels.
Amie was the dam of champions, hunters, field trial dogs and
most of all, great companions and much loved family members.
One son, BIS/DC Singltrak NMK American Hero, JH, would become
the first male dual champion to achieve a Best In Show since
1968. His brother, Ch Singltrak-NMK American Ally, MH (Downtown
Browne) was the first MH Amie produced and Carol Chadwick's
and Kathi Boyd's best buddy. Our Snowie (Ch Singltrak Broadway
Snowfall, CGC, TDInc) was famous for her great Therapy Dog
work and opinionated viewpoints.
Amie was the GSPCA Dual Dam of the Year for 2000, and her
award plaque hangs on my dog wall. I can't help but think
she would have eaten it had she still been around. Much of
her lives on in our Ziggy and our Kate, (Ames' great grandkids)
including that irrespressible spirit. We miss you, Bumblebee.
